Support / Quick guide

NarraSense Studio Lite

Your videos. Your headsets. One place to run the session.

Connect your headsets, send them your content and control playback from your Windows computer.

Connect your headsets

  1. Open NarraSense Studio and sign in if prompted.
  2. Open NarraSense Player on each headset.
  3. In Studio, open Device Setup and wait for the headsets to appear online.

For the first connection, join the same Wi-Fi manually on the computer and headsets. The computer can also use an Ethernet cable to that router.

Using a router without internet?

In Network Setup, enter the location name and router’s Wi-Fi name and password. Select Use offline router (no internet), then Save Network Profile.

Set this up while the headsets are connected. Saving a profile does not connect an unreachable headset for the first time. Prepare your account and content before going offline.

Add a video clip

  1. Open Media Library and click + beside Clips Library.
  2. Give the clip a name. Set Projection and Stereo to match your video. If unsure, ask whoever supplied the file.
  3. Under Headset Media, choose the video and its language. Use Add another language for other versions.
  4. Add a Reference Video for the computer preview, then click Save Clip.

Headset Media is what your audience watches. Reference Video is your operator preview. Adding a preview alone does not add the headset video.

Optional: thumbnails and chapters

Choose a frame in the reference video and click Use as Thumbnail, or choose Upload Thumbnail.

To mark a moment, move the reference video to that point, click Add Chapter Here and name it. Click Save Clip when finished.

Make a catalogue

A catalogue groups the clips and language versions you want available for an exhibition, class or event. It is not an automatic playlist.

  1. In Media Library, click + beside Catalogues.
  2. Name it, tick the clips you want and select their language versions.
  3. Click Save.

Edit Catalogue: select clips and their available language versions.
Tick a clip, then choose which of its languages to include.

Send content to the headsets

  1. In Device Setup, select the headsets you want to prepare.
  2. Choose each headset’s language. To apply one language to the selection, use Assign language → Apply.
  3. Choose Add Catalogue and assign your catalogue.
  4. Click Sync…, review the proposed changes and start the sync.
  5. Wait for transfer and verification to finish. Check that the required content shows as Synced before starting your session.

“Verifying” means the headset is checking the copied file. It is still working. Keep the computer and headsets connected until sync finishes.

Device Setup — the top of the screen shows selection, language and sync controls. On a phone, scroll the image sideways.

Run the session

Open Dashboard. Under Active Clip, choose your catalogue and clip. Check the Headset Monitor, then press Play. Allow the short preparation countdown to finish.

Pause / Resume
Pause the experience and continue from the same point.
Stop
End the current playback.
Waiting room
Choose Go to Waiting Room for a break, then use the return control to continue the clip.

Run a short test in every headset before visitors arrive. The computer preview is a useful guide, but check the headset picture and sound too.

Need a hand?

A headset is missing or reconnecting

Check that Studio and Player are both open and connected to the same router. Wake the headset and give it a moment to reconnect. If it stays offline, restart Player. If you changed the computer’s network, restart Studio too.

Guest Wi-Fi can prevent devices from communicating. Ask your network administrator to allow local communication and NarraSense through the firewall.

The clip will not play, or the preview is blank

Check the selected clip, headset language and sync status. Add and sync the required language version if it is missing. A blank computer preview usually means you need to add or reselect the clip’s Reference Video and save it.

The video looks stretched or doubled

Check the clip’s Projection and Stereo settings against the original video format, then save the clip and sync any changes before testing again.
